Build an app with the AI app assistant

Introduction

App Builder's AI app assistant lets you create a working application by explaining what you want to an AI chatbot.

Further enhancements to an AI-constructed app must be made with the standard App Builder interface.

Important

This feature is currently released as a beta version and is available only to select organizations. To participate in the beta program or provide feedback on bugs and enhancements, contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

Recommendations

You should interact with the AI app assistant as you would with any large language model (LLM) AI product. If this is your first time using one, the following may help you:

  • Use whatever language comes naturally to you; write as if talking to a person with your own level of IT and business knowledge, but explain or define any unusual or uncommon terms or concepts.

  • Read the prompts carefully before typing your reply. If there's something you don't understand, ask the AI app assistant to clarify.

  • Proper grammar and punctuation is useful but not necessary. Initial prompts are in English but you can reply in other languages.

How to build an app using the AI app assistant

Before you start, you should have a descriptive name for your app, and be able to explain what it does.

To build an app with the AI app assistant, follow these steps:

  1. Select Action Drawer > Site Menu, then click the AI App Assistant button. The Jitterbit AI Bot panel appears on the right side of the page:

  2. Read the introductory prompt, enter your response in the text field, then click the ' Send button to submit it.

    Tip

You can also press Control+Enter on Windows, or Command+Enter on macOS, to submit a response.

  3. The AI app assistant suggests an initial set of tables, a menu structure, and columns and data types for the tables.

You can accept, correct, or refine the suggestions, or ask for more suggestions. This is an iterative process that may need several prompts and responses.

  4. When you are happy with what the AI app assistant describes, tell it so. When it has built the app, it provides a link to it. Click the link to open the app.

Tip

The AI app assistant can't modify or extend an app it has built. You must do this yourself.
