Date (control type) in Jitterbit App Builder

A Date control displays and edits a date, a time, or both from a column in the UI layer, showing a calendar (and, for time values, a clock) that users can pick from instead of typing a value manually. For example, an Orders panel might use a Date control to let users select an order's date.

For a column to be usable with the Date control type, its logical data type must be set to Date, Date/Time, or Time. See Date, Date/Time, Time in Appendix A of the Introduction to App Builder tutorial series for how to set a column's logical and physical data type.

Add a Date control

To add a new Date control to a panel, use the Add a Control dialog and select Date as the Control Type. This reveals a Control Subtype field; select the option that matches which components you want the control to display:

  • Detect: Determine the control subtype based on the column's logical data type.
  • Date/Time: Display and edit both the date and time components.
  • Date: Display and edit the date component only.
  • Time: Display and edit the time component only.

Convert an existing control to a Date control

To change an existing control to use the Date control type:

  1. Navigate to the control, using either the Live Designer or the App Workbench:

    • From the app preview, open the page containing the control and select Action Drawer > Live Designer.

    • From the App Workbench, open the Pages tab, then in the Pages panel, locate the page containing the control and either double-click its row or click the Open record icon. In the Page Panel Layout panel, find the panel that houses the control and click Controls.

  2. If you're in the Live Designer, click the control in the page view; this will populate the Live Designer with edit options for that control. If you're in the App Workbench, in the Controls panel, find the control and either double-click its row or click the Open record icon at the end of its row; App Builder opens a dialog similar to the Live Designer's.

  3. In the Control Properties tab, set the Control Type field to Date. A Control Subtype field becomes available; select the option that matches which components you want to display (see Add a Date control for the available options).

  4. Click Save.

Refresh the application view to confirm the update. The control now displays the column's date, time, or both, and clicking it opens a calendar (and, for time values, a clock) for picking a new value.
