Install Jitterbit Design Studio on macOS

Introduction

Jitterbit Design Studio is the on-premises version of the cloud-based Jitterbit Studio. You can install Design Studio on macOS by completing these steps:

  1. Download the Design Studio disk image.

  2. Open the downloaded disk image.

  3. Copy the Design Studio application from the disk image to the Applications folder.

Known issue

When you run Design Studio on macOS 15 (Sequoia), the operating system reports that it cannot check the application for malicious software.

If you downloaded the application from the Harmony portal Downloads page, you can ignore the warning. The application will run as expected.

Note

For the best experience with Design Studio, use the native colors of your browser and operating system. Using dark mode or a dark color theme might cause issues.

Installation steps

The system prompts you to enter macOS login information at various times during the installation process. When prompted, provide credentials for an administrator-level user on the system. Many macOS users have administrator privileges on their machines, so you might be able to use your own login credentials. If you don't have administrator credentials, contact your network administrator, help desk, or other support resource at your organization.

Download the Design Studio disk image

Complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Harmony portal at login.jitterbit.com.

  2. In the Harmony portal menu, select Downloads.

  3. On the Downloads page, in the Design Studio section, select Mac OS X. The disk image (.dmg file) downloads to your browser's download folder, typically your Downloads folder.

Open the downloaded disk image

When the download completes, open the Design Studio Disk Image (.dmg) by double-clicking the disk image if it didn't open automatically.

The download location of the disk image file might vary depending on your browser and browser settings. You might need to open a Finder window and go to the Downloads folder or your configured download location.

Copy the Design Studio application from the disk image to the Applications folder

After you open the disk image, a window appears showing the Design Studio icon and an Applications folder alias.

Drag the Jitterbit Studio icon to your Applications folder, either to the alias shown in the disk image window or to the actual Applications folder. You can place the application elsewhere, but Jitterbit recommends using the Applications folder.

Note

If you try to launch the Design Studio application without dragging it to your Applications folder, you might receive errors such as Client Properties Do Not Exist. The application is not designed to run from the disk image.

The system might prompt you to authenticate with your administrator credentials to confirm that you want to write to the Applications folder.

After installation completes, you can launch Design Studio from the Applications folder.

Installation issues

Design Studio requires Java, and the required Java version might change as Design Studio versions change. When you launch Design Studio, you might receive a message stating that Java is out of date. If this occurs, update your Java client using the Java control panel. To access the Java control panel, go to System Preferences > Java. The Java Control Panel opens in a separate window. Select the Update tab, and then click Update Now.

Upgrade steps

You can upgrade Design Studio to a later version without uninstalling the previous version, including upgrades across major versions (for example, from 10.x to 11.x).

The steps to upgrade Design Studio are the same as the steps for initial installation. Follow the installation steps provided earlier on this page to complete the upgrade.
