Introduction

A PDF Utilities Convert Text to PDF activity, using its PDF Utilities connection, converts plain text content into a PDF document and is intended to be used as a target to consume data in an operation.

Create a PDF Utilities Convert Text to PDF activity

An instance of a PDF Utilities Convert Text to PDF activity is created from a PDF Utilities connection using its Convert Text to PDF activity type.

To create an instance of an activity, drag the activity type to the design canvas or copy the activity type and paste it on the design canvas. For details, see Create an activity or tool instance in Component reuse.

Configure a PDF Utilities Convert Text to PDF activity

Follow these steps to configure a PDF Utilities Convert Text to PDF activity:

Step 1: Enter a name and specify settings

In this step, provide a name for the activity and specify the text content and rendering settings. Each user interface element of this step is described below.

  • Endpoint menu: If you have multiple endpoints of the same connector type configured, a menu at the top of the screen displays the current endpoint name. Click the menu to switch to a different endpoint. For more information, see Change the assigned endpoint in Configuration screens.

    • Edit endpoint: Appears when you hover over the current endpoint name. Click to edit the currently selected endpoint's connection configuration.

  • Name: Enter a name to identify the activity. The name must be unique for each PDF Utilities Convert Text to PDF activity and must not contain forward slashes / or colons :.

  • Text content: Enter the plain text content to convert into a PDF document.

  • Font family: Select the font family used to render the text, one of Helvetica (default), Helvetica Bold, Helvetica Oblique, Times Roman, Times Bold, Courier, or Courier Bold. For text containing multibyte Unicode characters, the connector automatically substitutes the corresponding bundled Noto Sans font regardless of this selection.   • Page size: Select the page size of the output PDF document, one of A4 (default), Letter, Legal, or A3.

  • Font size (pt): Enter the font size (in points) used to render the text. The default value is 12.

  • Margin (mm): Enter the page margin (in millimeters) applied to all four sides of each page. The default value is 20.

  • Line spacing: Enter the line spacing multiplier applied between lines of text based on the font size used. The default value is 1.45.

  • Text alignment: Select the horizontal alignment of the text on the page, one of Left (default), Center, or Right.

  • Apply watermark: Select to apply a watermark to the output PDF document. When selected, these fields are visible:

    • Watermark text: Enter the text to render as a watermark.

    • Opacity (0.0 - 1.0): Enter a value between 0.0 (invisible) and 1.0 (solid) to set the watermark's opacity. The default value is 0.4.

    • Font size (pt): Enter the watermark text's font size (in points). The default value is 36.

    • Rotation (degrees): Enter the counterclockwise rotation angle (in degrees) applied to the watermark text. The default value is 45.

    • Position: Select where on each page the watermark is placed, one of Diagonal (default), Center, Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, or Bottom Right.

  • Continue on error: Select to continue the activity execution if an error is encountered for a dataset in a batch request. If any errors are encountered, they are written to the operation log.

  • Save & Exit: If enabled, click to save the configuration for this step and close the activity configuration.

  • Next: Click to temporarily store the configuration for this step and continue to the next step. The configuration will not be saved until you click the Finished button on the last step.

  • Discard changes: After making changes, click to close the configuration without saving changes made to any step. A message asks you to confirm that you want to discard changes.

Step 2: Review the data schemas

Any request or response schemas are displayed. Each user interface element of this step is described below.

  • Data schema: These data schemas are inherited by adjacent transformations and are displayed again during transformation mapping.

    Note

    Data supplied in a transformation takes precedence over the activity configuration.

  • Refresh: Click the refresh icon or the word Refresh to regenerate schemas from the PDF Utilities endpoint. This action also regenerates a schema in other locations throughout the project where the same schema is referenced, such as in an adjacent transformation.

  • Back: Click to temporarily store the configuration for this step and return to the previous step.

  • Finished: Click to save the configuration for all steps and close the activity configuration.

  • Discard changes: After making changes, click to close the configuration without saving changes made to any step. A message asks you to confirm that you want to discard changes.

Next steps
