App workbench in Jitterbit App Builder

The App Workbench is a centralized location that provides quick shortcuts to routine tasks required for building and maintaining apps.

From the app workbench, you can access all possible configuration settings for the app you're working on, arranged in eight tabs according to the four app layers: Data, Business, UI, and Security.

To access the app workbench, open any application and click the hamburger icon to open the action drawer, then click App Workbench. In some other pages throughout App Builder, the top toolbar offers access to the app workbench via a music disc icon.

App Workbench tabs

The app workbench is a primary hub from where you can access all the tasks required to build and maintain your App Builder apps. There are eight tabs in the app workbench, and they are associated with the four layers of your applications:

  • Home tab:

    • App Settings
      Set up basic information about your app and find quick links to the most essential resources of the other tabs.
  • Data Layer tabs:

    • Data Sources
      Set up new data sources for your application or manage the existing ones.

    • Tables
      Create new tables to store and organize the data used by your application or manage the existing ones.

  • Business Layer tabs:

  • UI Layer tabs:

    • Pages
      Create and manage the pages in your application, including how many there are, their contents, and where users can access them from.

    • Menu
      Create and manage menus to allow users to navigate through your application.

  • Security Layer tab:

    • Roles
      Secure your data with App Builder's method of role-based security. Control the roles that each user of your application can have, including its privileges and access levels.
